Biography

Sheena Wilkie is a professional photographer who specializes in portraiture. (www.sheena.ca) She came to photography from a design background, where she developed her sense of design and colour. Her earlier background includes traditional and multimedia communications. She has previously taught photography and creative software courses at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, and now teaches photography-related courses through her own Photo Gurus (www.photogurus.ca) venture. She creates advanced slide show presentations both for her own work and for clients such as the RCMP, the Surrey Food Bank, the Surrey Foundation and various other organizations. Sheena is the Editor-in-Chief of Canadian Camera magazine, a CAPA judge, and the founding member of the Surrey Photography Club.

This workshop will introduce the concept of Photoshop as a design tool for photographers. Discover downloadable Web resources and learn how to create your own brushes and textures. Learn which fonts and graphic elements best reinforce the style of your photograph, allowing you to create a classic art piece, suitable for an album or framing. The commercial applications of these skills include album-making, birth announcements, holiday cards, family mementos and wedding portraits.
